Sonnie Badu is an Award winning International Gospel singer-songwriter and is described as having a golden voice to open the flood gates of heaven. Married to Ann-Marie and they have two children, residing in the UK. Sonnie began his ministry at a tender age of 18 in Accra, Ghana. Raised under the stern Christian upbringing of Reverend Agyeman Prempeh, his father, who is a prominent pastor in Accra. The fundamentals of ministry were embedded into Sonnie, creating the foundation and discipline that would establish his life-long passion of service to the Lord.

Sonnie is not only a successful musician but is also known for his work as a philanthropist, businessman, motivational speaker and author. He is endowed with writing skills that have culminated into authoring six best-selling Christian books.

In addition to his ministerial work his primary task is to help improve the lives of the less privileged, especially in Africa. While maintaining his Ambassadorial status with the Hope Orphanage he has also elevated dedication to his own Ministry’s Charity Project, ‘Thy Dwelling Place’ Orphanage. Among many honorable achievements he has been listed as No.57 in the top 100 Most Influential Ghanaians of all time.

Sonnie is determined to keep soaring. While actively pursuing his Master’s and Doctorate in religion and fine art under the supervision of distinguished Dr Ron Kenoly, he was nominated and is now in the process of receiving an honorary Doctorate in humanitarian and musicology (from the Dayspring Christian University, An American Association for Christian Therapy, Communication and Diplomacy).

Sonnie’s contribution to African Gospel Music worldwide has recently been recognized by an Excellence Award and is currently listed as the 11th most influential Ghanaian abroad. African Gospel music is dispersing new dynamics and strength through it’s contemporary characteristics. In the UK Sonnie is hailed as one of the renowned and prominent worship leaders to emerge from an African Church. He is driving the church circuits with his energetic sound and colourful mix of African praise and worship with a style so diverse, he appeals to every preference.
Having ministered globally he has shared platforms with the likes of Cece and Bebe Winans, Juanita Bynum, Kim Burrell, Jonathan Nelson, Israel Houghton, Tye Tribbett, Tasha Cobbs, Jason Nelson, Donnie McClurkin, Muyiwa, Byron Cage, Kurt Carr, Lionel Peterson, Dr. Ron Kenoly, Judy Jacobs, Martha Munizzi, Kirk Franklin, Alvin Slaughter, Phil Driscoll, Fred Hammond, to name a few.

His ministry houses the presence of God and where God’s heart is; His hand will be. This is the grace that has made way for him to lead worship for Bishop T. D.
